Yes, it’s true the holidays are sneaking up on us. That’s why now is the time to plan thank-you-for-your-business-this-year client gifts. But don’t feel backed into a corner with the same-old food tin or seasonal sentiment as your only option. You can really set your company apart with a creative twist. Here’s how:
Look for less-traditional opportunities to position your gifts. For example, rather than sending clients the usual Thanksgiving treat, plan a “Black Friday Survival Kit,” complete with an imprinted canvas tote bag, shopping-cart shaped stress reliever and soothing foot cream for tired shoppers’ feet. Or instead of Christmas/Hanukkah gifts, try delivering etched parfait glasses on National Ice Cream Day, December 13th.
If you choose a traditional event for gift-giving, make the present itself and the sentiment behind it extra clever. For New Year’s wishes, package an imprinted Martini glass filled with a gel candle, a screen-printed butane lighter, and a card noting that you’re ready to “light up” the New Year with new ideas. That should ignite client interest.
Or consider a more altruistic approach. There are several events during the holidays that open the door for you to make donations on behalf of your clients. Toys for Tots drives, Humans Rights Day, and AIDS Awareness Month (December) are a few options. Choose a cause that reflects your audience’s common interests. Make a donation and send a related imprinted product with a note announcing the donation. If Toys for Tots is your choice, then deliver a miniature Teddy Bear with imprinted collar to “bear” the news. Your clients will no doubt be honored and impressed by your generosity.
